Yep. That's why I won't see it (plus my Hollywood guy 'warned' me that I wouldn't like it, and he knows my movies). :> :D

I'm not knowing this is a book worthy of being. lol :)

I dunno, in the original Old English, the saga of Beowulf was pretty bone-chilling stuff. Very, very bloodthirsty of course, but you know those Anglo-Saxons... happiest with a horn of mead in one hand and a bloodied sword in t'other.

Wyrd bith arearede!

Oooh, I got that one too! I haven't read it either. I have a sort of Ernest Hemingway-ish feeling about Conrad - a very portentous author with a rather exaggerated opinion of his own importance - so have never bothered.

From that description, I'll avoid it like a plague :D

Words.

Here is Belladonna, the Lady of the Rocks,
The lady of situations.
Here is the man with three staves, and here the Wheel,
And here is the one-eyed merchant, and this card
Which is blank, is something that he carries on his back,
Which I am forbidden to see. I do not find
The Hanged Man. Fear death by water.
I see crowds of people, walking round in a ring.
Thank you. If you see dear Mrs. Equitone,
Tell her I bring the horoscope myself;

One must be so careful these days.
