did you watch "no country for old men?"

I did, but contrary to others, I didn't care for it. Now Goya's Ghost is another story entirely :D They both came out around the same time. What did you think about it?

i loved it because it was about 95% faithful to the book. haven't seen the goya one yet but it's on my list of too be watched.

95% faithful to a book is a work of art, indeed. Most movies fail to deliver when transferred from the written word to film.

I want to see "The Bolyen(?) Sisters" too. I know I didn't spell the name right, but it has Scarlette Johannnson and Natalie Portman in it. Gotta be good with those two playing sisters.

seriously, they did a bang-up job. the one major thing they changed was an error in editing in the book... something someone should have caught. BUSTED!!! but they changed it in the movie. had to do with a cell phone call, and the book is set in the mid-80's, and there was like no way someone would be carrying around a cell phone in their pocket.

but cormac maccarthy is a bit of a recluse (not as bad as pynchon, but still), so maybe he didn't know.

We did talk about that book; I remember you telling me about the celluloid discrepancy.

yeah, i remembered talking about it, but nit-picky discrepancies never get old, especially when they're in books by well-respected authors whose editors are most likely too terrified to say "uh, mr. writer-dude, that's like so wrong..."

Those are some CRAPPY editors. I wouldn't be afraid to tell /any/ writer they were wrong if, in fact, they were wrong and I was their editor. I'd owe it to them, in fact, to make sure they were scrate. :>

I'm seriously doubting she can sing.

Back AWAY FROM ROCK STAR WITH YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR. lol

lately it's actually been grand theft auto 4... since school is out and i have no life, i've clocked in quite a lot of time on that game. *hangs head in shame*

Yeah, I'm president of the "No Life" committee. I'm worse, though. I'd rather watch movies that turn my brain into a turnip than engage in a game which might help with my mental and physical dexterity. O.o

Words.

Here is Belladonna, the Lady of the Rocks,
The lady of situations.
Here is the man with three staves, and here the Wheel,
And here is the one-eyed merchant, and this card
Which is blank, is something that he carries on his back,
Which I am forbidden to see. I do not find
The Hanged Man. Fear death by water.
I see crowds of people, walking round in a ring.
Thank you. If you see dear Mrs. Equitone,
Tell her I bring the horoscope myself;

One must be so careful these days.
