Mkay, you guys - please help me out and make a suggestion on audiobooks or stories (or story-tellers) I can get for my iPod. I prefer horror/mystery/psych thrillers.

Also, if you don't mind, please list three of your top favorite tunes right now, so that I'll have new music on the iPod as well.

:> Thanks!

Are they available @ iTunes (the books)?

I'd love to have those! How do you transfer them from download to my iPod? I'm clueless. Worst case, I'll download them (or pay for them).
Jun. 21st, 2008 01:52 am (UTC)
I have them (both audio books) in MP3 format on a DVD that I can drop in the mail to you if you like.
Jun. 21st, 2008 02:28 am (UTC)
That would be awesome!!! Do you have my snail mail addy?
Jun. 22nd, 2008 01:06 am (UTC)

Did you mean "Daydreamin'" by Lupe Fiasco?
Jun. 22nd, 2008 01:19 am (UTC)
Yes. Great song. And don't forget "Use Me" by Bill Withers.
Jun. 22nd, 2008 02:46 pm (UTC)
Got 'em. :>

audiobooks. "the road" by cormac mccarthy, "rant" by chuck palahniuk, "heart shaped box" by joe hill.

i still need to just burn you some tunes i dig that you might, as well. right now my three favorite tunes are from coldplay's new cd. i'd have to say "lost", "yes (the second half of it moreso than the first)" and "lovers in japan"

as usual, your results may vary

Thanks! I saw one of Chuck's books in the iTunes Store. I like Coldplay so ja...
Jun. 20th, 2008 11:57 pm (UTC)
if you'd like, i can burn you some other audiobooks. when i get my monies and buy me some new blank dvdrs, i can burn you a copy of "ulysses" onto one. it's like 40 discs!

yeah, that new coldplay grows on you. i liked it pretty well first time i heard it, but after several listens i really love it. it's just a well-produced well-written and well-performed pop-rock album. and no swearing!
Jun. 21st, 2008 12:58 am (UTC)
I did search for Ulysses...and it was UNBELIEVABLY long.

That's sweet, but I wouldn't ask you to burn 40 CDs just so I could have it! lol
Jun. 21st, 2008 01:22 am (UTC)
all 40 discs will fit onto a dvd-r no problemo. you just pop it into your drive and import the individual discs into your itunes at your leisure.

I just downloaded your recommendation. Stilllllllll waiting for it to get interesting. LOL :>
Jun. 21st, 2008 01:34 am (UTC)
which one?
Jun. 20th, 2008 11:59 pm (UTC)
PS important!!!
do NOT waste your money on "SNUFF" by chuck. i freaking HATED that book. you might like it, but i just dunno... if you really wanna hear it, i'm sure there are "ahem" other ways to find it rather than paying money for it...
Jun. 21st, 2008 12:16 am (UTC)
Re: PS important!!!
I liked the Diary audiobook -- it's the only Palahniuk I've read so far...

Re: PS important!!!
i highly recommend RANT, it's surreal, twisted, and dark and just wonderful. funny. i just couldn't stand SNUFF, it was just filler, a clever 13 page story stretched out to 197 pages. the "money shot" of the book is just lame.

chuck's a favorite of mine, but his stuff over the past 3 years has become spotty (i think he prints a new book every 6 months or so)

His name escapes me at the moment, but the Brit guy who does all the Harry Potter books is awesome as a narrator -- complete with different character voices.

Music: I am getting ready for the festival so I am mostly listening to bands that are coming, like "my" Newsboys. But here's a few for ya.

1. "Breathe Into Me" - Red

2. "Corinthians" - ApologetiX (parody of "In the End" by Linkin Park)

3. soundtrack to Music and Lyrics

I like the spooky stuff. Thanks!

Not sure if it's available separately, but Neil Gaiman's story A Study in Emerald is a Sherlock Holmes/Cthulhu mashup that's surprisingly good. It's included in the short story collection Fragile Things which is available as an audiobook. There's other good stories therein.

and here's a .pdf version

David Sedaris has something new out, and he's much better in audiobook form than he is in print.

"Old Enough", Raconteurs
"Big Hard Sun", Eddie Vedder from the Into the Wild soundtrack. It's about 8 months old but what the hell.
"Runaway Train", Eliza Gilkyson

Here is Belladonna, the Lady of the Rocks,
The lady of situations.
Here is the man with three staves, and here the Wheel,
And here is the one-eyed merchant, and this card
Which is blank, is something that he carries on his back,
Which I am forbidden to see. I do not find
The Hanged Man. Fear death by water.
I see crowds of people, walking round in a ring.
Thank you. If you see dear Mrs. Equitone,
Tell her I bring the horoscope myself;

One must be so careful these days.
