The pool closed AGAIN today. Of course it closes on the first day we're fully home.

I miss the sound of typewriters. I really need to get mine fixed, or rather find a new daisy wheel for it. I love typing, and always swore I'd write my first book this way.

Today's been a total chill out day, but I had a HUGE surge of near heart failure when I learned how much it was going to cost to repair my car. New transmission. New clutch. Do the math. I'm sick to my stomach. Still haven't gotten my taxes, nor has my parent's will been perfected. Soooo. Yeah. Not real happy today. Plus, it's like once we get home, I get a case of serious ennui and have NO energy. I'm hoping it's because of the drive, but I'm not sure. It could be this really messed up leg that's giving me so much grief.

Nothing to really journal right now but the above. The spawn spent the night with C, and now C is spending the night here. Arghghgowetu89w3t789. I know. I have to deal with it.

If you read this, you just wasted 2 minutes of your valuable time. That'll teach ya.

C = ?
Jul. 1st, 2008 01:12 pm (UTC)
I'm not using names anymore. The spawnlette is older, and I get too many hits from this area.
Jul. 1st, 2008 01:24 pm (UTC)
I wasn't looking for a name, just a generic description, like boyfriend, girlfriend, cousin, etc. But no biggy, her privacy is important!
Jul. 1st, 2008 01:26 pm (UTC)
MY privacy is also important. So when I use code names/numbers, it's usually out of necessity. *I* remember who everyone is, and in a diary that's what really counts, non?

..is there a way to get a typwewriter sound out of a keyboard? :D
Jul. 1st, 2008 01:14 pm (UTC)
Only the really OLD keyboards, which I'd love to get my hands on :)
Jul. 1st, 2008 06:14 pm (UTC)
Or one of those crazy steampunk keyboards. Hrm. I have an old manual portable typewriter...

You ever seen some of that steampunk computer stuff?
Jul. 1st, 2008 06:37 pm (UTC)
Not familiar with all that...
Jul. 1st, 2008 06:38 pm (UTC)
here. Have a laptop.
Jul. 1st, 2008 06:40 pm (UTC)
That looks like something from a horror movie. lol :>

yeh. There's two large public swimming pools in this borough, and BOTH of them are closing for urgent repair and tarting-up this summer - one straight after the other. Way to go, eh?

I'm feeling damn lazy this morning - hell, all I have to do is load up the car with junk and take it to the dump - how difficult is that?

so how come I'm not already in the queue for the dump opening?

Sigh. I hope the will situation is resolved soon, and you can get your car fixed. I don't care how old/battered/grubby a car is, so long as it is mechanically sound and reliable.

Also hope that C. (whoever that is) is quiet, clean and pleasant, and doesn't overstay his/her welcome. And GOES HOME right after breakfast. Having house-guests when you're feeling unwell is a Lot of Not Fun.
Jul. 1st, 2008 01:18 pm (UTC)
I'm still recovering from the drive I think.

C gives me the feeling that she's up to no good lately. I have issues with her just being here. *sigh* Not lucky enough for her to be leaving that early. I'll have to deal with it half a day.

As far as my parent's will, it's way overdue, and resolution was *promised* by last week. It doesn't help that one of my siblings is subverting the process by snatching documents away from the executor, and the executor doesn't want to deal with said sibling ever again. It's a huge mess, and not something my dad would've wanted. :(

i bought a typewriter a few years back on ebay. it was a total steal. it was a nice old manual, and i only got it for $10.00! of course, it was SUCH a good deal that the person i won it from didn't bother to send it to me. every now and then i look at them at pawn stores, etc. when i get my own place, i buy a typewriter.

thanks for reminding me i need to call the tax people and find out where the hell my EIC is. i mean, THEY"RE the ones who contacted ME about it about 4 months ago, so it's like "what's taking so long folks?" oh, wait. it's our government.
Jul. 1st, 2008 01:22 pm (UTC)
When I bought the typewriter I have now, it cost me $300. Unbelievable, eh?
Jul. 1st, 2008 01:34 pm (UTC)
wow, yeah. my first combo typewriter/word processor was pretty expensive, too, and weighed a ton. it was nice, though, being able to type a few lines, edit and spellcheck them, and then print them out. that's another thing i need is a new printer. i hate writing stuff and having it just sit there in the memory of my computer, i like having a physical copy. makes it more real, and since i've already lost one novel to a corrupt hard drive it's also better for back up purposes.

I actually bought this second hand from a fellow journalist who'd just bought one of the first PCs ever made (freaky...I'm so freakin' old). lol :) God only knows how much he paid for it, but it does all those neat things, too.
Jul. 1st, 2008 01:43 pm (UTC)
freaking old??? what? 35 is old?

so all you need for it is a new daisy wheel? have you found anyplace online that sells them? or is that something they still sell at stores?

C is spending the night here...

is the homestead still in one piece this morning?

ye gods! what is up with my internet?? it took three tries for me to get to post a comment!
Jul. 1st, 2008 03:26 pm (UTC)
I think my cluster is broken. I've had problems responding, too.

Yeah, the house is still in one piece, but I WANT PEACE AND QUIET AROUND HERE. Geez.
Jul. 1st, 2008 06:58 pm (UTC)
peace and quiet? those two? bwah-haHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!

man, that sucks about your pool being closed. is it going to reopen soon?
Jul. 1st, 2008 07:00 pm (UTC)
The pool JUST NOW reopened; but the sucky news is not only is C staying, but T is coming over to join in the festivities, also. I'm putting his ass on the couch. Argh.
Jul. 1st, 2008 07:02 pm (UTC)
K, C, T, and T... sounds like a radio station... or a recipie for wackiness!

now it won't let me change my "picture to use," WTFudge!
Jul. 1st, 2008 07:03 pm (UTC)
It would've been nice had the spawn not broken up with her boyfriend OH YESTERDAY. But she did, and now her best male friend is coming over. I smell a rat...

Here is Belladonna, the Lady of the Rocks,
The lady of situations.
Here is the man with three staves, and here the Wheel,
And here is the one-eyed merchant, and this card
Which is blank, is something that he carries on his back,
Which I am forbidden to see. I do not find
The Hanged Man. Fear death by water.
I see crowds of people, walking round in a ring.
Thank you. If you see dear Mrs. Equitone,
Tell her I bring the horoscope myself;

One must be so careful these days.
