Typewriters

I always said -- even as a young 'un -- that if I ever wrote a book, it would be written on a typewriter; not on a computer.

I finally figured out what the girls did to my Brother, and fixed the daisy wheel. It types like a dream now. After typing out one page, the sound and satisfaction I derived from that completed piece made me feel like perhaps that should be what I use instead of a computer. It's more honest. When you type it onto the clean sheet of paper, it's THERE. You can't select and clear or else you'll use up all your corrective tape. This makes you, as a writer, more cautious and selective about what you say and how you say it.

I'm sure - come November - I'll have the typewriter notion completely out of my head. But for now, I'm loving the way it feels and sounds as I peck away at ideas, beginning the snowflake that will be the book I work on in November.

In spawnlette news, this recent bit of happenstance she was involved with is probably the best thing that's happened to her. Total personality change for the better, and she's more affectionate and even-keeled. All things do, truly, happen for a reason. I've gotta (and do) believe that.

In MORE news, there's too much going on to write about.

However S.E. just announced that he flew to the Philippines and got married. Wow.

The end.

Just like the last two internet "brides" - one Russian and the other, Philippino - he said (about this one) that it's "definitely going to work." He went so far as to marry her. He also took her on a LOT of shopping sprees.

Oh, she won't be here for six to eight months.

And he didn't pay for shoe now; he paid up with his life this time.

I KNOW him, and he is very generous. I'd bet my last dollar that he already HAS and will continue to. *sigh* I saw all his pictures last night (he brought them over), and in each of her pics, she was wearing new clothes, jewelry, shoes and purses, all of which he said he bought, each time I'd compliment ANY item.

Things happen for a reason, this is true... But the reason may not always be a good one...

I'm glad it turned out well for the Spawnlette, though :D

You're preaching to the choir. Don't I know it!

I'm glad the Spawnlette is faring well in this situation, if not being wonderful about it.

I typed a few pages in preparation for Nano last night on it. I loved hearing the clacking of the keys, the mechanical return, the keys striking the paper...the way it feels...all of it. :> I'm going to get some eraser cartridges now so I can fix all my little errors. :) I paid as much for that typewriter back then as a new computer costs NOW. Unreal.

Words.

Here is Belladonna, the Lady of the Rocks,
The lady of situations.
Here is the man with three staves, and here the Wheel,
And here is the one-eyed merchant, and this card
Which is blank, is something that he carries on his back,
Which I am forbidden to see. I do not find
The Hanged Man. Fear death by water.
I see crowds of people, walking round in a ring.
Thank you. If you see dear Mrs. Equitone,
Tell her I bring the horoscope myself;

One must be so careful these days.
