SooOO...LJ to crash and burn?

So rumor has it. Wow. I feel sorry for those who've just now gotten permanent accounts.

If LiveJournal ceases to be, where are you guys going (if anywhere)? At least it'll help us get rid of readers we'd rather not have, non? :D

Possibly migrating to IJ/GJ; or just abandoning the intarewes forever since my reason for living will be over. :P

Wait...is that s none-too-subtle hint that you want me to stop reading?? :P

When my ex took my house, I had 24 hours to move a household full of stuff, sell a car and find a new place to live.

I have no doubt you can do it in 20.

You need to go before it's too late. Make moves towards leaving (boxing things up, etc.). Grab the most important stuff, and let the rest go. It'll make it easier on you.

I'm working on it; don't want to use the backup plan, beacuse.....it's the backup plan.

I'm not sure I will actually keep up a journal if I was to make a new one, I've had a greatest journal years ago but I only had about 4 entries, and it's now defunct. I had been considering building a journal client into my webpage but haven't started on that yet, not sure what I would do.

I remember years' ago you mentioning you had a GJ. I think the IJ is probably best suited for me. That would be cool, to build a journal client into your web page!

I don't think LJ is going to die anytime soon, but if it ever does go down for good, i give it a week before someone whips up a simple "Run your own LJ server" kit from the LJ source code. Then we can all break off into our own li'l personal servers (or GJ/DJ/what have you) and use OpenID to comment on each other.

I'll miss having everyone on my friends page, but frankly I use my RSS feed reader to read things these days anyway. I donno how friend filtering would work, though.

I hope you're right. I don't want to reinvent this little wheel, even though the freedom of it would be good! :D

I've only heard about layoffs, not the site going down.

I remember the old days, when there were only a handful of people running it. Constant down time, server screw-ups, and they even lost one of my scrapbooks. Ack.

I posted mine earlier. *if* it becomes necessary, that's where I'll be I guess.

I have a facebook under the Joey Michaels name, so I suppose I'd spend more time there, though I don't honestly think its going to collapse.

I also have a Face Book and MySpace, but I can't see me journaling in either. I do, however, remember how things used to be when LJ was backed up. Yikes.

I'm dimly aware of this rumour. Oh boy... so there must be a way of backing up LJ entries, yeah? I'm on Facebook but don't use it much for journalling as there's too many members of my family in my Friends List there for complete honesty.

I've been a loooooong time user of LJ; and I remember the old days, the down time, the lost photos, etc. when they were grossly understaffed. I'm hopeful it won't happen again, but if they're cutting personnel, I can only imagine what will happen to the servers. Too much greed involved in all this, I think. I'm just glad I printed off all my journals into hard copy (including up to this past week).

I feel you on the anonymity front. It might be smart of me to start off somewhere new under a totally unknown name, as too many people I know in real life have somehow found me here. Meh. This stops me from openly journaling, and even stops me from doing a straight, friend's-only entry, for fear that even one wrong person is on the list. Not good.

Words.

Here is Belladonna, the Lady of the Rocks,
The lady of situations.
Here is the man with three staves, and here the Wheel,
And here is the one-eyed merchant, and this card
Which is blank, is something that he carries on his back,
Which I am forbidden to see. I do not find
The Hanged Man. Fear death by water.
I see crowds of people, walking round in a ring.
Thank you. If you see dear Mrs. Equitone,
Tell her I bring the horoscope myself;

One must be so careful these days.
