Define "normal" (edit uno)

...because it ain't my life.

This past week/weekend was/were so chaotic that it's impossible for me to journal all of it. Suffice it to say, the deathmobile - after just costing me $600 for repair - needs a new water pump. If you know anything about cars, you know it'll run me around $300. I am SICCCCCCCCKKKKKK of the deathmobile punishing me for my driving prowess. Just get me there and back, mkay carra, thnx.

The spawnlette (who shall hereinafter be called by her name) had SO much homework and had to work this weekend. When she works that hard, I just wanna put her in my lap, rock her and rub her head. She works way too hard for a normal teen, taking all AP classes and tending to a job on top of all this. With the undue stress coming from...well, someone significant in her life, it's not fair. She also did an uncanny job at cleaning up the kitchen. She even took shelves out of the fridge and cleaned those, too. :> It's all Pine-Sol-y around here now.

And I discovered she's reading a lot of Hunter S. Thompson. *I* can love him, but SHE can't. Heh. I'm worried about her choice in authors, since they are way too mature for her (or so I think, since she's my baby).

God I can't wait until she's 18. No more obscure passages about...significant people in her life.

I intended to get my hair cut, since it's SUPER long, but haven't had the time. Health is iffy and meds are, too, right now. I'm waiting on a call from the victor alpha right now, in fact. Let's hope they have some good news. Our V.A. was voted #1 in the nation. WHATTHEHELLVA. I know the reason why. When my doctor asked me to take a 'voluntary survey', he called the number, put it on speaker phone and literally watched me answer each satisfaction question. OH YEAH, LIKE IMMA GONNA SAY SOMETHING BAD ABOUT THEM WITH MY MEDICINE-PRESCRIBER STANDING OVER ME. That survey is SO WRONG for this reason, and they need to get an independent polling group to get accurate results.

I'm losing weight again, which isn't so good, but am eating to avoid getting too thin again. My clothes are trying to get baggy which is never a good sign.

Hm...the rest of my life is just boring right now. I am, however, horrified at how all your old buddies from the military and high school can 'tag' you in a photo on Facebook and how all MY friends get to see 'em. The horror. We should have a say on that, I'm thinking, even though I'm rarely - if ever - on Facebook.

Mkay. I'm off today, and gonna go stick my nose in the Kindle :D It's rainy outside, but thankfully not cold. Good, however, to stay in and read until Kelsey gets home.

She works at Delia's doing everything. She's doing a great job, but I don't think retail is her bag. She's just doing the job for the extra dough.

My hair is longer than you've EVER seen it, seriously. I look like I'm trying to look 17. lol :> It's at least 12 good inches.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm to your long hair!

Yeppers, the clothing store. She loves their stuff (so do I) so it's a win situation.

And ughhhhhhhh to the time it takes to groom, now that my hair is super long. Seriously, you have no idea. Not to mention all the steps I go through during the washing/grooming process. Drying it takes another hour. lol

Did you wanna call? I'm waiting for the V.A. to call me right this sec, but would love a chat with you after. I'll e-mail you as soon as I'm through with that conversation. Is that cool? Or you could log into AOL and I'll IM you when I'm done :D

Yup... Email me :D

I shall happily e-mail you. If you've tried to call, the reason it goes to VM is because in order to stop the insane, psycho music phone calls, I got caller I.D. extra (it blocks blocked/anonymous phone calls). I screen my calls, and if I see no name/no number, I get suspicious. lol

Mine might come up as no number... I'm not sure...

But I'll wait for your email :D

Actually, you can call now. My v.a. doc just called, but is going to have to call back.

Facebook tagging has this very useful feature, that you can UNtag yourself from a photo, and once untagged, you can't be REtagged.

On privacy settings, I think you can also set who can see when you're tagged in a photo - from 'everyone' to 'me only'. So it doesn't show up on your Wall.

See? I'm never on it, so I'm ignorant of its features and how to use 'em. I'll check that out later on. Thanks for the tip!! :)

Hey, no probs. I use FB a lot to communicate with extended family, and with my psychotic sister I learned very quickly about privacy settings, especially the Limited Profile feature. Sweet, sweet relief, that I can put up photos/say things that she can't see, but she has no idea that she's blocked from them.

I don't think I have much info hidden as most do, and perhaps I should reset my account to at least hide my friends' quips, etc. I use it only to reconnect with old school and military buds (which Facebook is really good about, making the search process simple).

See!! YOU of all people know how they are. They've assigned me to Jimmerson (who you may or may not have met - younger guy) and he's pretty cool; but I couldn't do that survey /honestly/ with him standing over me, ya know?

Speakin' of literature -- whatever happened to lefthand_path??? Last thing I remember, he was lamenting David Foster Wallace's death... and now I've finally gotten around to reading "Infinite Jest" partially due to his recommendation. I'm somewhere around page 650 and I'm glad I kept with it...

I still talk to him (since he's in the same state as I), but for personal reasons, he decided to stop journaling for now. I understand PERFECTLY why he stopped, as that very personal reason would be the reason why I would, as well (or at least go into deep hiding). lol :) He's a good guy and still does Facebook.

Tell him the jumping elephant guy says 'hello' and hopes he's well, and that I love that book. I'm finding it's not really a difficult read like some people say it is, but it does place demands on the reader ... patience, mostly. Things are finally becoming clear the closer I get to the end of the book. I'm probably going to have to read it a second time to really 'get' everything...

He's probably going to read this, but I'll mention it to him when he calls. He'll think it's cool that one of my friends thinks fondly of him :D Writers are like that, you know. Any affirmation is good affirmation, even if we just pointed you in the direction of a good writer/movie/play. :D

Perhaps immersing herself in work helps deal with the stress? And as for being productive, I remember a poster I read in the fall of 1973, when I was a ripe, old 13. It said "If you want something done, ask the busy man. The other kind has no time."

If one of my kids cleaned the kitchen, I think I might just faint.

She likes "helping"; so I knew work would suit her well. I didn't expect her to hop into retail, but whatever floats her boat! She's doing to well and I'm proud of her.

She's always been good about helping around the house, and doesn't receive anything for it (no allowances, etc.). Just my gratitude. She really is so amazing in many ways that it's kinda hard to dwell on the "incidences" that I deal with with her. lol

Words.

Here is Belladonna, the Lady of the Rocks,
The lady of situations.
Here is the man with three staves, and here the Wheel,
And here is the one-eyed merchant, and this card
Which is blank, is something that he carries on his back,
Which I am forbidden to see. I do not find
The Hanged Man. Fear death by water.
I see crowds of people, walking round in a ring.
Thank you. If you see dear Mrs. Equitone,
Tell her I bring the horoscope myself;

One must be so careful these days.
