Why people feel the need to (a) jump in where they're TOTALLY unwanted; (b) offer up their opinon when it's not only ridiculous, but also intended to "stir some shiite up"; and (c) how someone who's absolutely adopted REALLY knows the truth about their situation.

Seriously...some things simply DEFY sense. I've lost a good 20 I.Q. points just READING.

Let me get back to "Against the Day" by Pynchon. Maybe it'll help me recoup my intellectual loss. :)

Finished my taxes today. WHEW AND THANK GOD. What a /nightmare/. It took hours since this year, I did the long form. State has been deferred (because, well, my state is stupid).

Had to cancel dinner/hang out plans with...er...yeah. Headache that's NOT going away, and can be attributed to spending five hours on taxes, and 20 seconds reading PART of a stupid comment.

Note to self, #133: Stop using the word "stupid". It's...stupid.

Heh. That is all.

Hey you. :)

How's your head?
Jan. 27th, 2007 05:58 pm (UTC)
OH MAN. Last night was /rough/ to say the least. It's better today, but I still have it. Thus the nature of a migraine.

Which literally BEGS the question of what this freakin' patch does. Ever since the victor alpha switched to these little tiny nicotine-looking patches, the meds have ceased to work. *le sigh*

Whenever you refer to them as 'victor alfa' it makes me picture them in black pajamas with straw hats, trying to overrun my perimeter.

"I'm in yur wire, overrrunnin' yer perimeter!"

Hahhaha. I STILL spell out that way. Creepy, how the military kinda lodges inside you like some kind of parasite and just LIVES there forever.

Just wait -- when you get out, you'll see :>

I transferred to the Retired Reserve last August.

I'm nearly as out as I can be.

You'll neverrrrrrrrrrr everrrrrrr really be /out/. I still have dreams (weekly), and OFTEN wake up, thinking I have to make formation, etc. No joke.

Umm...PTSD, anyone? LOL :)
Jan. 28th, 2007 02:20 am (UTC)
That's true. When I retired from the Active Reserve, I had the choice of just letting my enlistment lapse, not reenlisting, and going my merry way with no future association with the military until I requested retirement benefits at age 60 or transfer to the Retired Reserve, get an ID card, and stay in that part of the control group until I stop being a "grey area retiree" at age 60.

I took the ID card. If they really need me, then can call on me and I'll come back. Retired Reserve is a level of difficulty tougher for them to come after, so I accept that if they really do come after me, they'll really need me.

That being said, I've had those dreams for two decades now.

Do you ever have the ones where you're back in basic training and you can't convince them you shouldn't be there cuz you've already done it?

Or is that just me?

WOW. Your dream tells a lot about you, you know!

Mine are recurring, SAME THEME every time -- I'm typically in Europe, I'm /always/ about to either be deployed or trying to pack and move to my next assignment. I'm always in motion, in other words, moving along...to somewhere else. Makes all kinds of sense, because my "job" in the military was to travel constantly, be uprooted at the drop of a dime, and KEEP moving, with assignments changing all the time. So my "fear" is in my dream. I lose things. Loss is the theme of the dream. Not that I associate /that/ with the military, but it happens when you move.

Then, there's the waking-up/almost lucid dream, where I KNOW I'm still in the military (undoubtedly, absolutely sure), I panic, I get out of bed, look around and realize...er, I'm a civilian.

LOL :) Man. I don't think those will ever stop.

OCCASIONALLY (but not too often), I'll be flying (on a plane with other people in my unit) headed to another country. This one, I think, is directly tied to...a couple of hushed skirmishes. I'm almost positive, because I DON'T fear flying; but er...some of my assignments, definitely.

But basic, for me (I was an athlete before joining) was fun :D So I never have basic training dreams. :)

Here is Belladonna, the Lady of the Rocks,
The lady of situations.
Here is the man with three staves, and here the Wheel,
And here is the one-eyed merchant, and this card
Which is blank, is something that he carries on his back,
Which I am forbidden to see. I do not find
The Hanged Man. Fear death by water.
I see crowds of people, walking round in a ring.
Thank you. If you see dear Mrs. Equitone,
Tell her I bring the horoscope myself;

One must be so careful these days.
