The waiting game

Sitting and waiting.

Today has been a non-day, with me sitting and waiting to hear back from several people. Although there are a lot of options, it seems, the process isn't moving along fast enough for my taste. Patience is a virtue I don't possess.

And now, it has come to my attention that my lovely, brilliant spawnlette is reading my journal.

Sweetheart? I use a tracking code!

How do I know this, you ask? My tracking code knows all. If you're sitting in your pajamas in the den, reading this page, MY JOURNAL KNOWS IT.

Yeah, so that's a little unnerving, so I read back to see what I've been saying these past couple of weeks. At first, I thought someone hacked her code until I read her list of interests. THOSE have changed to be more updated. Er...surely she didn't think that would escape my attention? I suppose I won't have to discuss Delta with her, as she's already READ ABOUT IT. lol :)

This also means that I have nothing more to say today. It's nice and gray out there, perfect for naps, horrible for sinuses. I'm caught somewhere in the middle of those two.

That is all.

Yeh, it's a bit disconcerting innit, when offspring start acting like intelligent, independent-thinking adults! I'm still adjusting to the status quo of having two adult daughters, one of whom is actually GETTING GREY HAIRS (she's 26). And they both still live at home and pay a nominal rent and are students and don't have any kind of job, and dammit, I wish they'd do something a bit more proactive when it came to earning MONEY. It's quite scary the way they seem to just expect me to support them forever.

Maybe you should have a chat with both of them, and set new rules in the house. The spawnlette is so helpful around here that I don't have to give her a list of things to do. But I realize I'm lucky in this respect.

It is a little disconcerting that she's reading, even though I'm the one who set her up with an account several years' ago. Ack!
Dec. 13th, 2007 07:04 pm (UTC)
Yep. It's very hard for them to get any kind of work around here - England just isn't geared for high school/college students having part-time jobs - and with Aspergers they have big challenges with changes to routine and the exhaustion created by everyday life. That said, there's a MacDonalds down the road. No.2 daughter did try to get a job over Christmas, but without success.
Dec. 13th, 2007 07:18 pm (UTC)
Surely they can still try. I have a friend on my list who has Asperger's, and she works for a pharmacy. I assume she's doing well there, too.
Dec. 13th, 2007 07:46 pm (UTC)
Yes, they COULD try. But they're full-time students, and on courses that really are full time... no energy/time left for a job of any kind. And holiday work? Nope, they've never managed to get it.

It does annoy me. I feel like they're not TRYING. I've tried nagging and circling job ads and all that, and still they come back at me with damned logic!

I think it's because I don't work IN the Rx itself. LOL.
Dec. 13th, 2007 07:00 pm (UTC)
perfect for naps... yeah, i just woke up from a real champion of a nap.

your journal knows all, sees all...
Dec. 13th, 2007 07:03 pm (UTC)
I've been on and off all day. Ugh. I think it's the most recent malady that's contributing to mine, though.

Yeppers, the journal is all-knowing. It's a little oracle that tells on everrrrrrrrrybody. Heh. :>
Dec. 13th, 2007 08:13 pm (UTC)
So you're caught between a nap and your sinuses? ;D
Dec. 13th, 2007 08:15 pm (UTC)
I haven't gotten any *real* sleep in days because of my sinuses and this crazed weather.
Dec. 13th, 2007 08:16 pm (UTC)
Ah, I'm with you. Yeah, I haven't been sleeping well either. Here's to us and those like us, yeah?
Dec. 13th, 2007 08:18 pm (UTC)
Ja. Even my saline tricks aren't working. Baaaaaaad. And of course the headache that goes along with it really bites.
Dec. 13th, 2007 08:23 pm (UTC)
Headaches suck. I had one yesterday afternoon. between that and falling asleep, driving home was an adventure all by itself.
Dec. 13th, 2007 08:26 pm (UTC)
It seems like I've been nursing this headache for a few days. I *could* be more sick than I think (thanks to the pain killers tricking my body). Something's gotta give, though. Blah! Be careful driving! How's the weather in your hood?
Dec. 13th, 2007 08:41 pm (UTC)
Temps in the low 40s during the day, around freezing at night, occasional light rain today.
Dec. 13th, 2007 09:23 pm (UTC)
It's amazing she didn't find it sooner!
Dec. 15th, 2007 07:30 pm (UTC)
She's always known about it and has her own journal (which is never updated). But she's never /read/ it until lately (which I learned by checking my code). That, or someone's hacked her account (which is highly unlikely).
Dec. 13th, 2007 10:00 pm (UTC)
Oh, crap. Your tracking code knows all and sees all? Uhmmm, all those times I was reading while sitting on the toilet with underwear on my head and mismatched purple bunny slippers, uhmmm, I was on medication and had a condition while being in a coma. I swear, I'm not making excuses! No, REALLY!!!
Dec. 15th, 2007 07:31 pm (UTC)
See, *I* wasn't gonna bring it up. But those garanamals that you wear have GOTTA GO!!! lol :>
Dec. 15th, 2007 01:11 am (UTC)
Is thankful for wearing the respectable pajamas without the frayed cuffs
Dec. 15th, 2007 07:31 pm (UTC)
Ehhhhhhhh, you're not here that often :>
Dec. 15th, 2007 02:07 am (UTC)
Interesting. I know my wife likes to read my occasional public entries. Since having a space of my own to complain about her was the biggest reason I came to lj, I keep a lot of entries filtered.

I'm still mildly annoyed with my daughter for letting it slip that I had this thing...
Dec. 15th, 2007 07:33 pm (UTC)
Where've YOU been? LOL

Um...I don't know if my ex reads or not (and could care less). But she's known about this journal for years, yet never ventured over here until recently (while at school, no less).

Did you think about starting another LJ? PUT ME ON FILTERS!

Here is Belladonna, the Lady of the Rocks,
The lady of situations.
Here is the man with three staves, and here the Wheel,
And here is the one-eyed merchant, and this card
Which is blank, is something that he carries on his back,
Which I am forbidden to see. I do not find
The Hanged Man. Fear death by water.
I see crowds of people, walking round in a ring.
Thank you. If you see dear Mrs. Equitone,
Tell her I bring the horoscope myself;

One must be so careful these days.
