So I decided to paint another rendition of "Hill House" and I'm sitting here staring at something that looks like it was designed for Beverly Hills. All it needs is a welcome mat with flowers and crap. WHAT THE HELLLLLLLLLLL? It's black and gray and ALLEGEDLY OMINOUS. WHY HOUSE WHY? I don't have it in me right now to be or paint all ominous, perhaps in light of my recent "bright" paintings. Those, however, have garnered some favorable comments from my little art communities, so I'm feeling my artistic oats right now :) :D I have, however, hit an artist's block. I think I've inundated myself with TOO many artistic endeavors through the course of a couple of weeks, and now my left brain is dry as a shuck.

My right brain is following close behind it.

I got some /great/ flowers from Publix this weekend, but NOW have no energy nor am I in the mood for doing those, either. I'd planned on using either chalks and rapidograph or watercolor/rapidograph. NOW LOOK AT ME. PAINTING ALLEGEDLY OMINOUS LOOKING HOUSES which could go on the cover of "Better Homes And Gardens".

I've lost my edge. *sob*

Oh! Another loverly quip from one of my male coworkers today (you had to have been there, but it was funny). I was asking one engineer about another whose name I'd forgotten:

Me: You know -- the guy with the salt and pepper hair, that smells really good all the time?

He: *looks up at me from his chair, puts his hand on his chin and says his name* ... Hm. He smells good? I'm gonna have to smell him some time.

You should've been there. Just looking into that face with him saying it all serious like that was teh funny.

Personal commitments
So now, instead of rushing to get the books edited and put out, or to get yet another Matisse done, I HAVE to commit to going to sleep like a real person each night around 8:30-9. I've spent the past couple of weeks literally passing out sitting up. Upon awakening, I'll either check my art site or my book site to see what's going on, and then end up without enough sleep. In fact, I sleep SITTING UP. LIKE A HORSE. IN A STALL. I'm just sayin'...nothing's right about all that. My legs aren't real happy, and the last couple of much-needed lie-down time hours remind me of what I truly need. Sleep is as important as food (if not moreso). And I need more of it than I'm getting. And NO I DON'T CARE TO HEAR YOUR OPINION ON MY KINDERGARTEN BEDTIME.

Today was nice and steady, with a few quick moments but nothing major. Thank God. I needed a semi-down day. Even had some time to help a co-worker with hers. Yay.

*eyes that stupid house*

If I put one more coat of paint on that sucker, I might as well take a knife and carve a picture into it. Just sayin'...

I need my creative juices flowing. They aren't. Maybe I'm one of those 'untortured' artists, and have to be totally happy before I can do something creative. Being sad doesn't help at all. Feeling trapped or hopeless doesn't help, either.

Not that I'm saying I am...but you know.

And that's that.

I am usually in bed and trying to sleep by 9pm so your goals aren't that bad.

On a good party night I stay up until 10. Go me.

Here is Belladonna, the Lady of the Rocks,
The lady of situations.
Here is the man with three staves, and here the Wheel,
And here is the one-eyed merchant, and this card
Which is blank, is something that he carries on his back,
Which I am forbidden to see. I do not find
The Hanged Man. Fear death by water.
I see crowds of people, walking round in a ring.
Thank you. If you see dear Mrs. Equitone,
Tell her I bring the horoscope myself;

One must be so careful these days.
