There's no place like home

Mkay...when did the Highway Patrol fargin' bastidges with the blue beacons start driving around in Explorers? I'm looking around, avoiding all the oldsmobuicks, trying not to get a ticket, when all along, the cops are in Explorers. Shouldn't we be notified when they change or something? Just sayin'...we have a right to know before we blow past 'em. :D Having said that, I had a couple of near-misses, but avoided getting nailed. :D

We're home, and THANK GOD FOR THAT. I hit some of the worst storms I've ever driven through on my way back, with lightening so close you could've reached out the window and snagged it. There were all sorts of vehicles pulled over on the side of the road, waiting it out. The sky was jet black, which I've NEVER seen the likes of until today, and it was beautifully ominous. We made it through just fine. The real fun happened when we ran into the freakin' Star Wars Pod Racer-game-highway-part, where there were pylons and concrete walls with stripes putting my eyes through some great test. It was kinda scary.

The spawn, of course, slept the whole way back.

I'm too tired and sore to do a real update, so that's that. I do, however, take great pride in my new cleavage, but have easily gained 10 lbs. on this trip. NOT. GOOD.

That is all. Scoot.

Jun. 29th, 2008 07:48 pm (UTC)
Not lots of seafood; I'm not a fan.

Oooooooo so you're finding time and resources to get away eh.
Jun. 29th, 2008 07:56 pm (UTC)
well, i'll be on break from school in august... or most of august, and since my finan. aid for summer got fudged up and i'm getting it late (maybe this week? the next?) i should be able to afford it. but if i have to stay in a 29.99 a night room in freaking mississippi, i'm going somewhere.
Jun. 29th, 2008 07:58 pm (UTC)
New Orleans is our next destination. :>
Jun. 29th, 2008 08:05 pm (UTC)
i liked new orleans, and i had the best chinee food while i was there, joe. i imagine kelsey would probably explode with glee at some of the signs/businesses you can see in the quarter
Jun. 30th, 2008 06:33 am (UTC)
I've been so many times. I'm sure she'll love it :D
Jun. 29th, 2008 09:17 pm (UTC)
An excellent choice! When are you going? We visit every year during the weekend before Thanksgiving.
Jun. 30th, 2008 06:34 am (UTC)
I don't know when we'll go. It's just our next road trip. This, however, will be a shorter one than the one we just took. :> It would be really neat to meet you guys! If you to go N.O., come to Birmingham and meet up with the LJ peeps in this area! :D
Jun. 30th, 2008 12:18 pm (UTC)
Didn't I tell you that we'll be flying down to Birmingham this Thursday (the 3rd), and flying home on Sunday? It's time for Play On Con!
Jun. 30th, 2008 01:54 pm (UTC)
No! You guys will be here??? For how long? I wanna meet up with you and the oft-praised and beautimous wife of yours :D In return, I'll give you introduce you to my spawnlette. :D
Jun. 30th, 2008 03:16 pm (UTC)
We arrive at midday on the 3rd, and fly home mid afternoon on the 6th. I know I told you this! In fact, I think I asked you to email me (nsingman at earthlink dot net) so I could send you my mobile phone number via your email. So there!
Jun. 30th, 2008 07:00 pm (UTC)
You gotta remember I'm a heart patient ( HORRIFIC memory), so I'll do that! I'll send you my cell number, too. It would be a shame not to meet ya. :D
Jun. 29th, 2008 04:55 pm (UTC)
Explorers? So not green!

Jun. 29th, 2008 05:40 pm (UTC)
They're gray and sneaky. It ain't right! :>
Jun. 29th, 2008 04:57 pm (UTC)
Sounds fun to see, but not to drive in...

Welcome back!
Jun. 29th, 2008 05:41 pm (UTC)
It was awesome, so we brought it home. It is now storming here like a biznatch. It was sunny when we returned :D
Jun. 29th, 2008 05:10 pm (UTC)
Looks like all we hear about US weather lately is how extreme and scary it is this year. I'm glad you're both safe home. Yeah, those stripey walls play silly buggers with my vision as well.

I've not often been driving when the rainfall became so heavy I had to pull over to wait it out. It's not a lot of fun, especially if you see a road bridge up ahead, think 'Hey, I'll wait in that shelter!' and get there to find the road half-blocked with other people with the same bright idea... hell, if they can't stop safely off the carriageway, they should move on, ya know?
Jun. 29th, 2008 05:42 pm (UTC)
I agree, and it was scary-bad. But the skies were frighteningly beautiful. I /love/ a good storm, even when I'm driving in 'em. I would've HATED to have been in the Star Wars area during the storm, however. Not only were the concrete divides dangerous, but they were also TIGHT. Yikes!

Here is Belladonna, the Lady of the Rocks,
The lady of situations.
Here is the man with three staves, and here the Wheel,
And here is the one-eyed merchant, and this card
Which is blank, is something that he carries on his back,
Which I am forbidden to see. I do not find
The Hanged Man. Fear death by water.
I see crowds of people, walking round in a ring.
Thank you. If you see dear Mrs. Equitone,
Tell her I bring the horoscope myself;

One must be so careful these days.
