My little teacher

So the spawnlette was asked to volunteer this morning in tutoring some high school kids who're having trouble with maths. I'm really impressed with her math prowess, and wonder where she got /that/ gene from :> She's now gone to a haunted house with friends and her remarkable turnaround has remained consistent. She really is the joy of my life.

My day was wrecked inadvertently by too much exercise. I've GOT to lay off my knees and stop pushing myself so hard. I also need to be careful, and take in vitamins that are necessary. The whole starving 20 lbs. off might've worked to start with, but now none of my jeans fit. I don't need to keep going in this direction.

So it's been rest and knees propped up day for me. Got a couple of creepy movies in, but my brain received a desperately needed break from all which is going on right now. There's that.

There's some bizarre leak coming from the AC which attacked all in one day. I'm freakin' out, since this /is/ a rental. Going to call someone tomorrow about this. I haven't been using the AC, due to mild weather, but it continues to leak. IT SO FIGURES.

This week was very strange for different reasons which are probably best yapped about in the freedom of a private entry. Funny, how some people NEVER forget you, no matter how much time has passed, or how rich your life has been. I'm coming full circle with my past it seems, and it's very odd to me.

The spawnlette is (still) reading 1984, but can't seem to put "Fight Club" down long enough to finish it. I'm wondering if maybe I should be censoring some of the stuff she reads. Just sayin'...

Otherwise, it's been a humid nasty day around here, and I can't wait for it to be over.

The end.

Is it hot and humid, or just humid? I figured you guys would be getting into fall by now...

Ugh, knees! I never thought that mine would get bad, but if we're doing a lot of squats or jumps or anything like that in fitness class, I definitely start to feel it...

What flix did you get in?

Humid and hovering in the 70's and 80's. So it /feels/ hot. We've only had one semi-cold night, and even then it was in the 40's (allegedly...I can't prove it...lol).

My knees have BEEN shot since I was hit by the car. It is /so hard/ to work out, but I grin and bear it. I can no longer do things I could even five years' ago, but I'm NOT going to let them stop me from keeping the rest of me in shape.

What fix do ya mean?

Movie night!

...Chuck Palnahayskqqsiac is best in small doses. His stories make me cringe sometimes. safalfalkjalkjf

Ja, lefthand_path has read all his work and is a big fan. That's what skeers me. lol :) Or the spawn wanting to read that genre. Or worse - being told to read it. WTH.

Seriously.

Humidity sucks the very life out of me...

I'm glad things are going well with the Spawnlette...

And yeah, knees... I wish I could come over and give you a good leg rub!

It gets really bad down here. Sometimes, it's hard to breathe. Not to mention all the critters that like to come and sneak about when it's all foggy or dark. Greaaaaaaaaat.

No! You can't rub my legs. They're full of hardware and GOD THAT HURTS. I've had so much nerve damage due to surgery and whatnot, that often, it hurts to touch the skin all over each leg =(

I guess it will have to just be a shoulder rub then... ;)

a couple of bookstores here keep chuck p's stuff behind the counter because teens keep stealing them. he's a hit with the kids.

man, i remember when my mom told me i couldn't read "the shining" by stephen king. i promptly went to the store and bought a copy of the paperback and put it in my bookbag and snuck it into the house. and scared myself shitless for a week reading it late at night. this was like '76 i think? '75? that might esplayne a lot!

I was never told NOT to read any books. So in the seventh or eighth grade, I got my hands on Helter Skelter. WTH.

I'm not sure if this is an assignment, one of her friends told her to read it, or if she's reading it because I let her see the movie. lol :> I'm NEVER going to bitch about her reading. Despite the material, she'll continue to learn /some/thing.

someone--as a joke ala 'project mayhem'--- put a bunch of copies of his book "survivor" on the "summer reading" shelf at a books a million last year. i got a chuckle out of that.

way i see it, that rap those wacky keeds listen to nowadays probably has desensitized kids to vulgarity.

now, if you find her reading a copy of "the atrocity exhibition" by j.g. ballard, you might wanna have a lil' talk with her.

Okay, so now I HAVE to ask. Why does the bookstore "arbitrarily ban" books from teens when these books can be found at the school library? I have a problem with that, so let's go protest.

Words.

Here is Belladonna, the Lady of the Rocks,
The lady of situations.
Here is the man with three staves, and here the Wheel,
And here is the one-eyed merchant, and this card
Which is blank, is something that he carries on his back,
Which I am forbidden to see. I do not find
The Hanged Man. Fear death by water.
I see crowds of people, walking round in a ring.
Thank you. If you see dear Mrs. Equitone,
Tell her I bring the horoscope myself;

One must be so careful these days.
