Spawn bonding

Amazing as it may seem, for the past couple of days and nights, my spawn has not only been sweet (and cuddly!!), but has participated in helping me cook, watching a movie with me and the unfathomable: shopping.

We both hate shopping. Why we went is still a mystery (well, VS has great pajamas, yo), but we survived with a new book and dress for which she paid. DRESS. SHOPPING. WE NEVER DO DRESSES OR SHOPPING. I wear suits, but there's a huge difference between a dress and a suit. Ask any man (although I think men like suits better; sexier in a business-like way). :>

Keyboards on laptops are fixed, as is my car. The work done on my car would've cost me thousands had my high school buddy not intervened and manned up to do the job. I'm planning a reunion trip with some high school pals for a sojourn to Shakey's in Auburn. Not the same as the old one in Birmingham, but it should be fun just seeing them again. After spending all those years in the military, I'd forgotten most of my high school friends.

Benjamin Button was great. A little long with too many gratuitous scenes, but great nonetheless. There should've been some intermission. :D

I believe the spawnlette's worse half is coming to spend the night. If they think I'm cooking, they gotta whole 'nother think comin'.

And that's that.

Great to see a happy contented post! Yeah, innit wonderful when the offspring do lovely things and enjoy the parental company.
How'd that interview go?

She's been on a tear lately, so it's good that she's actually treating me like a human. Kinda sad that I get all giddy about it.

They were pushing me into sales, and I want NOTHING to do with it. Ah well. That's life. Are you still receiving monies for your girls? I wondered about that, since they live alone now.

Yeh, we get support still. 'Tis a tad complicated, but it's sufficient - I have to go up there and check out the house, deal with breakdowns and repairs, and keep them on track, at least one day per week, so they're not really independent.

Shame about the job. Oh well.. looks like there are very cautious, gradual hints of economic recovery now. One almost dares hope!

Gas has gotten better. Otherwise, I see no faith in our economy at all. We were just at the mall today and it was empty, despite the incredible sales going on. Hell, nobody can afford to shop, even at rock-bottom prices.

Awesome... Bonding is always a good thing!
Dec. 30th, 2008 06:29 pm (UTC)
It's bizarre in light of recent events, non? :>
Dec. 30th, 2008 06:30 pm (UTC)
Indeed! :D

Her loyal compadre is coming over to spend the night, however. It could've all been a ploy to lull me into submission...
Dec. 31st, 2008 10:17 am (UTC)
Heh... I hope it wasn't!
Jan. 1st, 2009 01:15 pm (UTC)
Nope! In fact, she didn't spend the night as Kelsey was reading a book :)
Jan. 1st, 2009 03:11 pm (UTC)
A good thing!
Jan. 1st, 2009 03:21 pm (UTC)
I know, right? That's a very good thing :D

I do like women who hate shopping. It restores some of my faith in the world, somehow.

Dec. 30th, 2008 07:13 pm (UTC)
We both HATE it. I try to keep any shopping on the net, and am befuddled by women who swear by it as an activity on the weekends. WTF? Torturous. We were in and out whilst making our purchases, since we already knew what we were getting. On Christmas eve, it's usually me and 57385729385 men out shopping; that's how bad *I* am. Hahaha.

I discovered a way around this: If yu're too poor to get anyone anything, you either make it all at home, or you don't give anyone presents. Either way, you don't have to shop. On the other hand, you DO have to be desperately poor. And that takes a lot of the fun out.

Only my spawn was taken care of this year, due to pending payables. Ugh. No fun in those, either.
Dec. 31st, 2008 11:20 am (UTC)
With you totally on that. I LOATHE wandering around shops, idly looking at 'stuff' and wearing out ears, shoe-leather, tolerance and energy from all those PEOPLE jostling along. It. Is. Not. Fun.

Here is Belladonna, the Lady of the Rocks,
The lady of situations.
Here is the man with three staves, and here the Wheel,
And here is the one-eyed merchant, and this card
Which is blank, is something that he carries on his back,
Which I am forbidden to see. I do not find
The Hanged Man. Fear death by water.
I see crowds of people, walking round in a ring.
Thank you. If you see dear Mrs. Equitone,
Tell her I bring the horoscope myself;

One must be so careful these days.
