Journal? Life? What journal and life?

So much has gone on, significant things, and I've completely stopped journaling which is strange.

What I also realized this morning - and plan on rectifying - is the fact that besides one person, I talk to NO ONE on a regular basis. And failing to be able to contact one person with whom I talk to often, it stiffens my new resolve to get out there and reacquaint myself with friends. I've completely lost all of my male friends (which is stupid), and today I'm going to start working on building those relationships back up. It's ridiculous to isolate myself the way I have, in here and in real life.

Kelsey just graduated, and I'm unusually sad about this. They've already made the post-high-school trip to Florida, and are planning on another quick one in between Kelsey's job and school.

Life has been crazy despite its lack of people. Having Kelsey graduate, I need to rediscover who I am again. I can busy myself up with the help of my spawnlette. Last night on her way home, she stopped by and picked up Krispy Kreme. Yum. I haven't had those doughnuts in about five years. The odd thing is I was JUST telling someone that the other day and boom! She reads my mind.

Kelsey plans on starting college this fall, for those who might be interested. She works at Delia's right now, and is doing wonderful. She got employee of the month twice in a row, and received bonuses as a result. I'm very proud of her for not resting on her proverbial laurels.

The looming decision about social security has risen its head, and the statutes of limitation are almost out for filing. I feel like I have no more life in me, and that things are being stopped for a reason. Also, this is the time of year my parents died, so it's a rough time for me right now.

Of course, there's no point to this entry and I've not included ALL the things or even a good bit of the things going on right now. Maybe I'll start making an effort to at least journal occasionally.

You're the visitors, so I should treat!! Yes, both numbers are the same. Try the 1542 first. :)

Ah, but we're on vacation and only lounging around, and you're being kind enough to carve out some time for us, so we should treat.

I shall try 1542 first!

That's sweet, but you know, southern hospitality and all that. :>

What is this Play Con that you're going to? Since it haappens here so often, maybe I'd be interested?

If you insist, I shall graciously accept. But if we're back in Birmingham before you visit the NYC metro area (a likely scenario), please let us reciprocate

PlayOnCon is a gaming convention started by some friends of ours. We're not especially into gaming, but they have fun themed parties in the evening (21 and over, because they serve booze). We also enjoy the opportunity to visit friends we only get to see perhaps once or twice per year.

When I rewrote a book, I was in NYC every week for almost a year. It's not totally unlikely that I'll be there...good chance of it, since I still have friends there. :D

So it's a friend's only thing? It sounds cool, dressing up and stuff. Sort of like dungeons and dragons?

I'm glad that it's not too unusual for you to be up here. We'd be delighted to take you to dinner next time you visit the Big Apple!

It's definitely not a friends-only thing. Anyone may attend (well, anyone who buys a badge for a day or the weekend). There probably isn't as much dressing up as at SF conventions. However, people will certainly dress for the parties if there's a theme. And for certain gaming contests (e.g., Band Hero), the members of participating "bands" will often dress like rockers. You should check out the website!

It's been years since I've been to New York, and I miss it for sure. I wish I had an occasion to visit now!

So what all goes on at this convention (or can you say? lol). It sounds like great fun, and a good networking opportunity, too. I'm surprised Birmingham hosts it. Is it Play Con? Or Play on Con? I forget its name.

You can always come up for the Coney Island Mermaid Parade on Saturday, June 19th.

Some of the parties can get pretty interesting, though I personally retain plausible deniability. During the day, though, Play On Con features gaming of various types (gamers love to get together and play), such as board games, card games, video games, etc. There are gaming contests, and there's a barbecue on one of the days. Voltaire (the goth musician, and not French philosopher François-Marie Arouet) will be performing at the con, too, and judging one of the contests.

It's held in Birmingham because the city has a convenient, central location for fans in the southeast, being not too far from Atlanta, Nashville, etc. Connie and I fly in.

Kelsey's birthday is the 20th.

I knew there was something "fun" going on that I wasn't privvy to! lol :D I'm a big gamer, so I should look into it. I should say I'm a big competitor.

Too bad Connie doesn't bring her bowling equipment. I bowl, too and have my own schtuff. :> The local bowling alley has great chicken fingers.

Here is Belladonna, the Lady of the Rocks,
The lady of situations.
Here is the man with three staves, and here the Wheel,
And here is the one-eyed merchant, and this card
Which is blank, is something that he carries on his back,
Which I am forbidden to see. I do not find
The Hanged Man. Fear death by water.
I see crowds of people, walking round in a ring.
Thank you. If you see dear Mrs. Equitone,
Tell her I bring the horoscope myself;

One must be so careful these days.
